Five Qualities To Look For In a Prospect
One of the most important things one needs to do when attempting to develop a successful
business is to recruit “quality people” into their business. The first thing you might ask is, “What exactly do you mean by – quality people?” Well, that’s not an easy question to answer, but here are some qualities that you should look for:
- Someone with a large sphere of influence – in other words, they are in a position of authority and are well respected by their peers.
- Someone who is results-oriented and driven to succeed.
- Someone that is not afraid to “hustle”.
- Someone with an outgoing personality that people are attracted to.
- Someone who is financially stable – or extremely desperate to become so.
You are really looking for those individuals who are natural leaders and will spearhead putting together weekly presentations and trainings. You want someone that is willing to work as hard as YOU ARE! I have heard these types of people referred to as “pearls”. This name obviously comes from the analogy of having to shuck many, many oysters before a pearl is found.
Now, does this mean that you should only try to recruit people that have one or more of the above qualities? Absolutely not! You should talk to EVERYBODY. You may have a friend with the personality of a wet dishrag. Talk to them! Why, you might ask? The answer is – they might know someone who possesses many of the qualities discussed above! They may know a person with an incredible amount of influence, who you would have otherwise, never been able to meet.
Recruiting, like any form of sales, is a numbers game. You may find a “pearl” right away, or you may have to shuck a hundred oysters before you find one. I can tell you from experience – however long it takes…..it’s worth it!
